2024 has been quite a year. Not in a bad way, though—just a year packed with work, personal growth, and exciting new ventures. It’s been full of experiences that I’ll look back on fondly. Let’s take a moment to highlight the most memorable moments.
Of course, I won’t go into every detail—this blog wouldn’t be long enough! But I always find it rewarding to write down these memories, especially knowing they’re being read by others.
Street Photography: A Year of Growth
One of the most significant changes in 2024 was the progress I made in street photography. My output, the quality of my work, and my overall vision have improved drastically. A pivotal moment came in April when Roy from Captured and Published invited me to contribute to a photobook about Antwerp. It felt like a huge recognition of my work, and it spurred me to take even more street photos and dedicate more time to the craft.
Later in the year, I attended a two-day street photography workshop in Brussels with Selaru Ovidiu. Learning from his approach to street photography and his techniques helped refine my own vision and routine.
The podcast I launched in August also opened doors to meet like-minded photographers, deepening my connection with the street photography community.
Some of my favorite street photos from the year:
- A striking image of ladies’ feet near a statue in Rome during Festa della Repubblica
- An interesting moment in Brussels where a black-and-white silhouette forms on a staircase
- A framed photo within a frame, capturing street life in Antwerp
- The shadows cast on stairs as a man walks in an empty space in the city
Corporate Photography: Milestones in Business
Corporate photography continued to be my main income stream in 2024. It started strong with the purchase of the Nikon Z8, which became my go-to camera for corporate events and portraits. My first full event shoot using only mirrorless cameras (Z8 and Z7II) was a milestone, and I followed that with over 85 assignments for a variety of clients, including big corporations and government departments.
Additionally, I had the chance to host a portrait shoot for my friends in a studio, testing out new gear and lighting patterns in the process. Corporate work remains a significant part of my photography journey, and this year was a testament to that.
Some of my favorite corporate portraits and event shots from 2024:
- A captivating shot of a circus director at a corporate event
- A portrait of Denis Van Weynbergh at an event in Brussels
- A dynamic photo of a fire artist performing at a corporate gathering
- A shot of Carl Van de Velde at a business coaching event
Exciting Firsts and Milestones
The “firsts” of 2024 were particularly memorable. Here’s a rundown of some of the exciting things I experienced this year:
- I got my hands on the Nikon Z8 and started shooting with it regularly.
- I purchased a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, which has quickly become one of my favorite pieces of gear—I honestly don’t know how I lived without it before.
- I launched my street photography podcast, Slices of Time, which allowed me to connect with even more photographers.
- I was thrilled to be part of the Captured: Antwerp photobook.
- I challenged myself physically, walking 77 kilometers along the Belgian Coast in just two days.
- I explored new places: Nice, Monaco, and Aalst for the first time.
- I revisited Rome, Rotterdam, and Liège, cities I’ve always loved, but it was still as special as the first time.
Looking Back, Moving Forward
As I look back on 2024, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunities that came my way and the progress I made in both street and corporate photography. I’ve learned so much this year, not just about photography but also about myself as an artist. Here’s to more growth, new experiences, and of course, more photos in 2025.
